Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mosi Kondo (ranked 379 p4p, 59 weight class) and Russell Westbrook (ranked 1055 p4p, 154 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mosi Kondo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russell Westbrook!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Westbrook decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kondo tries to kick Westbrook off but Westbrook keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Westbrook is trying to control the action in half guard but Kondo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kondo wants to get back to his feet.

Westbrook is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kondo is refusing to be controlled, as Westbrook sits in half guard.

No joy there for Kondo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Westbrook counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Westbrook gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Westbrook lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kondo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Westbrook shoots in for a takedown but Kondo shows good takedown defense.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kondo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

It seemed like Westbrook was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Westbrook counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kondo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kondo went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mosi Kondo will probably get the nod.

Westbrook shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kondo as he jumps to the side.
Kondo jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Westbrook throws a wild body kick that Kondo sees coming a mile off.
Kondo lands a slapping body shot.
Westbrook dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A solid body kick from Kondo.
Westbrook's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kondo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Westbrook scrambles back to his feet.
Kondo throws the kick towards the body but Westbrook avoids it.

Westbrook needs to keep his hands up - Kondo had a free shot at his head there.
Westbrook goes for a double leg but Kondo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kondo continues to drive forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kondo steps in with a hook that catches Westbrook right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Kondo follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Westbrook looks absolutely devastated.

A very excited looking Mosi Kondo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
