Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dave Wearmouth (ranked 322 p4p, 49 weight class) and Russell Northrop (ranked 886 p4p, 135 weight class). Northrop has chosen Alive And Kicking as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Wearmouth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Russell Northrop!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Northrop is looking to chop away at Wearmouth's legs.
Northrop connects with a leg kick. Wearmouth looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A punch combination from Wearmouth misses.
Northrop lands with a good body shot.
Northrop with a poor takedown
and Wearmouth connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wearmouth throws a front kick aimed at Northrop's knee but Northrop avoids it well.

Northrop moves into the clinch.

Wearmouth's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wearmouth staying out of range there.
Northrop swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wearmouth tries a head kick but it misses.
Northrop was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

It looked like Wearmouth wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Northrop throws a low kick but Wearmouth moves out of range easily.
Northrop wants to clinch up but Wearmouth keeps it at a distance.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wearmouth, right into the meat.

Northrop darts in and clinches Wearmouth up against the cage.

Wearmouth has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Northrop is proving hard to escape from.
Wearmouth is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Total Impact MMA/KT that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Wearmouth won't allow Northrop to sweep him here.

Northrop is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wearmouth pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wearmouth escapes and gets back to his feet.
Wearmouth gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Wearmouth keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Northrop is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wearmouth.
Wearmouth blocks a jab.
Northrop lands a nice shot that snaps Wearmouth's head back.
Russell Northrop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Northrop throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Northrop closes the distance and pushes Wearmouth back into the cage.
Wearmouth's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Wearmouth pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dave Wearmouth is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wearmouth throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Northrop fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dave Wearmouth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Russell Northrop.
Northrop tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wearmouth paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wearmouth moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Northrop closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Wearmouth ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wearmouth lands with a good body shot.
Northrop misses with a takedown attempt - Wearmouth sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A punch lands to the side of Wearmouth 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Northrop throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wearmouth.
Wearmouth was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Northrop throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wearmouth counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Northrop digs a good body shot into Wearmouth's ribs.
Northrop is still on wobbly legs! Can Wearmouth finish him?
Wearmouth throws a leg kick which misses Northrop's front leg but catches the back leg as Northrop tries to avoid it.
Northrop throws a right and a left that Wearmouth avoids nicely.
Wearmouth connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Wearmouth pounces like a tiger and cracks Northrop with a vicious hook! Northrop is down but not out! Wearmouth follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Dave Wearmouth!
Dave Wearmouth spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
