Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everette Evans (ranked 24297 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Omega (ranked 4677 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Everette Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Omega!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Omega feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Omega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Evans preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Omega is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Omega won't allow Evans to sweep him here.
Omega seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omega trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Omega with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A clash of legs there as Evans blocks the low kick.
Paul Omega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans misses with a wild combination.
Omega is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Evans with a body shot.
Evans closes this distance looking for a takedown but Omega circles away.
Omega wants to clinch.
It looked like Evans wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Omega tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Evans blocks the body kick.

Omega closes the distance and clinches.

Evans's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Omega avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Evans could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Omega rushes Evans and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Evans breaks from the clinch.

Evans gets caught flat footed, as Omega shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Evans is looking to stand back up but Omega counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Evans.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Evans is trying to maintain the position but Omega is very close to passing his half guard.

Omega is looking for a kimura here.
Evans avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Omega.

Omega not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Omega wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy.
Evans wants to control but Omega is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Omega not doing much here.

Omega looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Omega trying to control from Evans's half guard. Evans has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Omega accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Evans is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Omega dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Omega shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Evans eats them both and turns towards Omega to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Everette Evans has been cut.
Omega throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Evans doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Omega decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Omega has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Omega stalling away here and it's allowed Evans to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Evans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Omega's guard.


Omega looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Evans chips away with some ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Omega wants to get back to his feet but Evans is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Omega is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Evans wants to stand but Omega has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Omega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Omega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Evans gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Evans would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Omega looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Omega looking for a guillotine here but Evans defends easily.
Omega is breathing heavily.

Evans gets to his feet. Omega looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Omega clinches.

Evans breaks from the clinch.

Omega manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Evans on his heels. He'll look to pass Evans's guard now, I'm sure.
Omega trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Omega is fighting to break Evans's control of his arms but Evans is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Omega is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Evans is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Evans has escaped and now he's on top!

Evans is looking to stand up but Omega won't let him.

Evans trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Omega. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Evans cracks Omega with a solid left hand.
Omega wants to stand up but Evans is controlling him.
Evans wants to control from the top but Omega keeps moving.
Omega preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Evans wants to stand but Omega has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Everette Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Evans throws the left hand but Omega avoids the punch easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Omega closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Evans's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans is not content to let Omega control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Paul Omega will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Everette Evans's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Omega shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Omega showed some decent athleticism there.
Omega wants to free his trapped foot but Evans is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Omega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evans keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omega thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Omega throwing shots but Evans is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Evans is defending against the submission attempts here by Omega.
Omega is trying to control. Evans wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Evans is trying to control but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Omega looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Omega shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Omega was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Omega is looking to take a break and control but Evans is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Paul Omega has got the better of the ground game so far.

Omega stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Omega throws a sloppy head kick and Evans moves out of range easily.

Omega shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Evans napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Evans wants to control but Omega postures up.

Omega taking a break here but Evans is having none of it and regains half guard.
Omega takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Omega is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Evans is looking to improve his position.
Omega is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Omega seems to be working for a kimura but Evans defends the submission attempt.

Evans circles away from the clinch attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Omega avoids the head kick by Evans.
Evans fails with the takedown.

Paul Omega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Omega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
