PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hatori Hanzo (ranked 1444 p4p, 175 weight class) and Mate Orsic (ranked 2874 p4p, 308 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hatori Hanzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mate Orsic!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Orsic.
Hanzo throws a jab but it's blocked by Orsic.
Orsic cracks Hanzo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Orsic shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hanzo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Orsic wants to pass the guard but Hanzo is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Orsic sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hanzo's guard.
Hanzo trying to hold on to Orsic's head to control him but Orsic postures up.

Orsic is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hanzo has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hanzo wants to control but Orsic is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Orsic looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hanzo is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Orsic is trying to work for a kimura but Hanzo is defending well.
Hanzo's coaches at Smitty's have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Orsic is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hanzo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Orsic.
Hanzo is trying to maintain the position but Orsic is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Orsic is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hanzo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Orsic.
Hanzo wants to improve his position but Orsic is controlling well.
Hanzo is doing well to control the position and prevent Orsic from advancing to side control.

Orsic is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Orsic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hanzo is just riding it out for now. Orsic eventually gives up the hold.
Orsic is pressing down on Hanzo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hanzo is holding on for now.

Hanzo is defending against the submission attempts here by Orsic.

Orsic is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hanzo defends it well.

Hanzo wants to control but Orsic is keeping busy.

Orsic is working for a submission of some sort.
Hanzo wants to get back to full guard.

Orsic is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hanzo has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Orsic tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hanzo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hanzo tries to roll over but Orsic keeps him under control.

Mate Orsic dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Orsic scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Orsic works Hanzo's body with a nice hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Orsic, as that shot connected.

Orsic drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Orsic won't allow Hanzo to sweep him here.
Orsic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Orsic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Orsic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Orsic thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hanzo has a closed guard, preventing Orsic from standing up.
Mate Orsic has got the better of the ground game so far.

Orsic drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Orsic as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Hanzo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Orsic! Nice submission victory there!
