PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Astro (ranked 3301 p4p, 347 weight class) and Marcus Harris (ranked 3932 p4p, 385 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charlie Astro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Marcus Harris!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astro lands a nice leg kick that just misses Harris's sensitive parts.
Harris misses the jab.
No joy there for Astro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A nice side step and Harris releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Astro works Harris's body with a nice hook.
The fighters circle momentarily. Astro darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Harris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Astro scores with the left hand. Harris knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Marcus Harris has been cut.
Astro fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Harris looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Astro stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Astro goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Astro lands a left and a right that send Harris crashing to the mat, dazed. Astro thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Harris is rocked!
Astro cracks Harris with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Harris tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Astro pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Harris is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie Astro!
Charlie Astro is the new lightweight champion!
Charlie Astro decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
