Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Maia (ranked 3125 p4p, 331 weight class) and Ilpo Pallero (ranked 4643 p4p, 415 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ilpo Pallero!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maia lands in his opponent's guard.
Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Pallero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pallero looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Maia has picked Pallero up and slammed him! Pallero can't keep hold of the triangle and Maia manages to pass to side control!
Pallero is looking to regain half guard here but Maia keeps moving and retains side control.
Pallero stops Maia from passing to mount.

Maia stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Maia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pallero has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.
Pallero told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Maia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pallero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pallero tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Maia could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Maia pushing down on Pallero's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Maia seems to be looking for submissions.
Maia wants to control but Pallero is keeping him busy.

Maia postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Pallero to stand up.

Maia looking to score a takedown here. Pallero is defending well but Maia drives through and ends up in Pallero's guard.

Maia is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pallero is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pallero throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maia escapes and throws Pallero's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Maia tries to move to mount but Pallero blocks the move with his legs.
Pallero is looking for a sweep.
Maia wants to control but Pallero is keeping him busy.
Pallero tries to improve position but can't.

Maia has an Americana. Pallero didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maia is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maia hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
