Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Diaz (ranked 3128 p4p, 340 weight class) and James Penn (ranked 3346 p4p, 356 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Feiticeira. Penn has chosen Everything in its right place as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that James Penn was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses with a hook. Penn ducked under it nicely.
Penn staying out of range there.
Penn throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease.
Diaz throwing a counter right hand but Penn manages to avoid it.
Penn feints and then cracks Diaz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Diaz down.
Sloppy strikes from Diaz. Those never looked like landing.
Diaz connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Penn momentarily.
We've been told by Diaz's head coaches at Westside Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Penn uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diaz.
Penn is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Diaz with a body shot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Diaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Penn lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Penn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Diaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Diaz scores with a counter punch that sends Penn to the canvas! Diaz smells blood - he's punishing Penn with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Penn has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

In his post fight interview, Dick Diaz started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
