Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Asakura (ranked 5316 p4p, 466 weight class) and Manel Correia (ranked 4640 p4p, 434 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyson Asakura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Manel Correia!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Asakura closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Correia to the mat! Correia manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Asakura looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Correia is looking for a triangle but Asakura pushes his legs off easily.
Asakura wants to stand but Correia is controlling his posture from full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Asakura is looking to stand up but Correia won't let him.

Asakura gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Correia moves in looking to clinch but Asakura pushes him off.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Correia, right into the meat.

Asakura throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Correia was covering up waiting for the punch and Asakura finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Correia can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Asakura in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Asakura is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Correia's shoulder. That is not cool.
Correia is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Correia is trying to strike from the bottom but Asakura has passed into full mount.

Correia is squirming around, avoiding Asakura's attempts to control the action.
Correia squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Correia wants to control but Asakura is having none of it.
Asakura controlling his opponent.
Correia keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Asakura avoids the attempt from Correia to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Asakura landing strikes from the mount and Correia is in trouble!
Correia is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Asakura with a couple of short strikes.

Asakura wants to finish this one by submission but Correia is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Asakura.
Asakura wants to control the pace but Correia is squirming around nicely.

Correia rolls, trying to escape but Asakura keeps control of the position.

Correia trying to control the action but Asakura just sinks the hooks in.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Asakura is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Asakura gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Asakura gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Asakura apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Correia misses with a looping left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Correia wants to clinch up but Asakura keeps it at a distance.
Asakura swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Correia tries to counter with a clinch but Asakura shakes him off and moves away.
Correia fails with a takedown attempt.
Asakura throws a big counter combination but Correia scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

and Asakura counters with a series of strikes. Correia will be more careful next time no doubt.
Correia looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tyson Asakura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manel Correia.

and Asakura counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Correia tries to get to full guard but Asakura has control of the leg.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Asakura lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Asakura is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Correia can do to turn this around?
Correia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Asakura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Asakura prevents Correia from improving his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Correia wants to clinch up but Asakura keeps it at a distance.

Asakura fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Correia wants to counter with a clinch but Asakura pushes him away.

Correia shoots in and bounces Asakura off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Asakura scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Correia misses with a head kick.
Asakura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Correia as he avoids it easily.
Asakura dives in for a single leg takedown but Correia sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Asakura gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Correia decides to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Correia looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Asakura has picked Correia up and slammed him! Correia can't keep hold of the triangle and Asakura manages to pass to side control!
A lull in the action here.

Asakura stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Correia tries to clinch up
and Asakura counters with a three punch combo that has Correia backing up. Correia nods at Asakura to acknowledge the strikes.
Asakura tries to clinch but Correia moves out of range.

Correia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Asakura sprawls well initially but Correia persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Asakura is pressing down on Correia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Asakura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Correia missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Correia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Tyson Asakura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Correia is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Asakura is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Asakura has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Asakura has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Correia is proving hard to escape from.
Asakura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Correia wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Asakura manages to pass to side control.
Asakura winds up and cracks Correia with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Asakura seems to be working for a kimura but Correia defends the submission attempt.
Correia is staying active underneath Asakura, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Asakura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Asakura looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Asakura lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Asakura seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Correia does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Manel Correia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyson Asakura is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
