The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander swinging wildly here.
Mello drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Alexander defends it well.

Mello shoots in and bounces Alexander off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Alexander has his feet on Mello's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Alexander definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Alexander fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mello to the ground. Alexander is now in Mello's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alexander throws a strike but Mello rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mello lands a couple of digs.
Mello content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Mello tries to free his leg and advance position but Alexander is retaining full guard.
Mello passes Alexander's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Mello lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mello lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mello takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Alexander strikes from the bottom but Mello passes into mount!
Mello scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Alexander is wriggling around trying to escape.
A nice elbow there by Mello.

It looks like Zakoria Alexander has been cut.
Mello breaks from Alexander's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Alexander is rocked!
Mello postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Alexander looks a forlorn figure.
Oh Alexander is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Alexander is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mello connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Mello unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Alexander wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Mello celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
