PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slim Sylvia (ranked 262 p4p, 36 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 106 p4p, 16 weight class). Sylvia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Some Country Shit. Tong Po has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slim Sylvia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tong Po!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Po misses with a low kick.

Po gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Po's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sylvia swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Po counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Slim Sylvia has been cut.
Sylvia takes a swing at Po's ribcage but misses.
Sylvia jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And Po responds with a good body kick, but Sylvia manages to step out the way in time.
Po throws a looping overhand right but Sylvia ducks down to avoid it.
Sylvia misses with a hook.
Sylvia connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sylvia is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Po.
Po throws a body kick that misses.
Sylvia throws a leg kick
and Po counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Po takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Sylvia connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sylvia dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sylvia throws an overhand right that lands on Po's shoulder, as Po tries to avoid the shot.
Sylvia throws a hook but Po avoids it easily.
Po blocks a leg kick.
Po throws a nice outside leg kick.
Po tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
It looked like Sylvia wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Po lands a nice looking body shot.
Po throws a hook but Sylvia blocks it.
Sylvia misses with an uppercut. Po saw that one coming.
Po just misses with a punch to the body.
Sylvia throws a counter high kick but Po was just alert enough to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Po on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Sylvia. Sylvia obviously looking to wear him down.
A combination from Po does no damage.
Sylvia rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Po cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sylvia throws a sloppy head kick
and Po counters with a stiff right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sylvia lands a head kick. Po smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A big left from Sylvia misses.
Sylvia lands a jab-cross combination.
Po slips a straight right by Sylvia.
Sylvia connects with a solid leg kick.
Sylvia lands a nice looking kick to the body. Po takes a step back to recover.
Sylvia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Po.
Po throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sylvia counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sylvia works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Po slips a jab from Sylvia.
Po throws a hook but Sylvia avoids it easily.
Sylvia throws a jab but it's blocked by Po.
A slow jab from Sylvia misses its intended target.
Po uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sylvia.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sylvia tries to circle away but Po has him pinned against the cage.
Sylvia wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sylvia fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Po lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sylvia backwards.

Sylvia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Po dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sylvia. That did some damage!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Po misses with a kick to the body.
Sylvia is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sylvia gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Po drops Sylvia with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sylvia looks back up at him and smiles so Po waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sylvia swings away with a body shot that misses
and Po counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sylvia's knee momentarily.
Po pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Po scores with a nice head shot.
Sloppy strikes from Sylvia. Those never looked like landing.
Po connects with a leg kick. Sylvia looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sylvia misses with a right hand
and Po counters with a left to the body.
Sylvia throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Po avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tong Po will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Slim Sylvia's cut.
That's time! Sylvia's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sylvia fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Po looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Po cracks Sylvia with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Po has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sylvia to stand back up!

Sylvia is rocked!
Po tries to clinch but Sylvia moves out of range.
A good leg kick by Sylvia.
Po avoids the head kick by Sylvia.

Slim Sylvia's cut is getting worse.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Po counters with a big right hand! Oh Sylvia is in trouble here! Po follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tong Po!
After winning the bout, Tong Po thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Slim Sylvia spoke after the fight, saying 'Half of this game is 90% mental.'.
