Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Shiina (ranked 714 p4p, 39 weight class) and Moganesh Jain (ranked 1348 p4p, 79 weight class). Shiina comes to the cage accompanied by Gurren Lagaan OST - To Hell With Gattai!. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Shiina!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shiina fails with the takedown

and Jain counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jain sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Jain works his way into side control.
Jain working away.

Jain swings around for an armbar but Shiina sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jain's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shiina trying to control but Jain is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jain trying to keep a closed guard but Shiina is proving a slippery customer.
Shiina stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shiina postures up.

Jain is looking for a triangle but Shiina pushes his legs off easily.

Jain had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shiina defends it easily.
Shiina wants to control from the top but Jain keeps moving.

Shiina avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jain wants to control the position but Shiina says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Jain tries to roll over but Shiina keeps him under control.
Jain keeps trying to improve his position.
Jain is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Shiina is trying to control. Jain wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jain is trying to maintain the position but Shiina is very close to passing his half guard.
Jain is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jain wants to control but Shiina is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shiina shoots in looking for a takedown but Jain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shiina's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jain stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jain wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Shiina. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jain jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Shiina steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jain.
Shiina attempts a counter takedown but Jain avoids it well and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shiina is defended easily by Jain.
Shiina lands with a nice body punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jain throws an overhand right that lands on Shiina's shoulder, as Shiina tries to avoid the shot.
Shiina shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jain pinned against the cage. Jain gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Shiina takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Jain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jain tries to free his leg and advance position but Shiina is retaining full guard.

Shiina working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jain has passed into half guard!
Jain wants to pass to mount but Shiina is defending the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jain is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moganesh Jain dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Shiina tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jain paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shiina takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jain staying out of range there.
Jain now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Shiina feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jains jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Shiina tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jain was well out of range. Poor timing from Shiina.
Jain looks to land a right hand but Shiina moved out of range.
Shiina on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Shiina just misses with a punch to the body.
Jain looks to throw the jab but Shiina is out of range.
A slow jab from Shiina misses its intended target.

Shiina closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jain to the mat! Jain manages to get full guard.
Jain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Moganesh Jain has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jain pulls Shiina in close to his closed guard and prevents Shiina from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jain tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Shiina is posturing up here but Jain has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Shiina tries to roll out but it's too tight and Shiina has to tap! Slick submission there by Jain!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Moganesh Jain!
Moganesh Jain is the new bantamweight champion!
