I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jiang Chang was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jiang Chang!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Delaney gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Delaney breaks from the clinch.
Chang misses with a two punch combination.
Chang throws a right and a left that both miss.
Delaney tries to clinch but Chang moves out of range.
Chang dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chang throws a head kick that misses

so Delaney counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Delaney decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Delaney shoots in and drives through. Chang sprawls well.
Chang scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Kent Delaney has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Delaney moves into the clinch.

Delaney breaks the clinch.
Chang throws a nice outside leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Delaney.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chang lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Delaney tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chang swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chang throws a head kick but Delaney moves out of range.

Delaney looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Delaney not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Delaney keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Chang is trying to stand.

Delaney stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Chang to get to his feet.
Chang looks winded!
Delaney on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Chang swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Delaney counters by moving into the clinch.

Chang tries to sprawl but Delaney drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Delaney is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Chang is kicking away at Delaney from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Delaney grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Chang trying to push Delaney off... Chang taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
