PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Petersen (ranked 2479 p4p, 295 weight class) and Rudolf Kleinschmidt (ranked 1561 p4p, 204 weight class). Petersen comes to the cage accompanied by James Brown- Living in America. Kleinschmidt has chosen DMX- It's hot and hell is dark as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Don Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudolf Kleinschmidt!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kleinschmidt on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Petersen. Petersen obviously looking to wear him down.

Petersen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Petersen trying to control the position from guard on top but Kleinschmidt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Petersen drops back looking for a leg! Kleinschmidt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kleinschmidt manages to kick Petersen off! Petersen jumps back into Kleinschmidt's guard.

Petersen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kleinschmidt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Petersen has managed to get both his arms back between Kleinschmidt's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petersen wants to control from the top but Kleinschmidt keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petersen is fighting to break Kleinschmidt's control of his arms but Kleinschmidt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Petersen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Our spies down at at Touch Of Death Combat Academy inform us that Kleinschmidt has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Petersen is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kleinschmidt has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Kleinschmidt looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Petersen seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Petersen is trying to stick to Kleinschmidt's back but Kleinschmidt is turning into Petersen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Petersen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kleinschmidt.

Let's hope that Kleinschmidt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Petersen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kleinschmidt is one step ahead there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kleinschmidt wants to pass the guard but Petersen is defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kleinschmidt in particular looking to stall.

Kleinschmidt wants to work for an arm triangle but Petersen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kleinschmidt is keen to just control but Petersen is a slippery customer.
Kleinschmidt is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Petersen reverses the position - he's now on top in Kleinschmidt's guard.

and Kleinschmidt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The fighters circle momentarily. Kleinschmidt darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Petersen throws a hook to the side of Kleinschmidt's head but Kleinschmidt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

A telegraphed right hand from Petersen misses the target.
Kleinschmidt let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Petersen feints and as Kleinschmidt raises his hands in defense, Petersen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Don Petersen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Petersen throws a shot from downtown. Kleinschmidt moves away and avoids it.
Petersen misses with a double jab.
Don Petersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kleinschmidt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Petersen throws a lazy right hand but Kleinschmidt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Petersen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kleinschmidt can do to turn this around?

Petersen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kleinschmidt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Petersen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Petersen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Petersen has hold of Kleinschmidt's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kleinschmidt seems comfortable defending it but Petersen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kleinschmidt is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kleinschmidt is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Petersen couldn't care less - he's delighted!
