PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julio Cruzeiro (ranked 1335 p4p, 184 weight class) and Shen Kuei (ranked 1871 p4p, 243 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cruzeiro might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Linval Thompson - Jah Jah The Conqueror. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Kuei misses.
Kuei checks a leg kick.
Kuei looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
A telegraphed right hand from Cruzeiro misses the target.
Kuei steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cruzeiro.
Cruzeiro takes a swing at Kuei's ribcage but misses.
Kuei displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cruzeiro throws out the jab.
Kuei looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Kuei loads up on a big right hand but Cruzeiro slips the punch.
Kuei throws the left hand but Cruzeiro avoids the punch easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kuei throws a looping overhand right but Cruzeiro ducks down to avoid it.
Cruzeiro connects with a jab.
Kuei chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cruzeiro can pounce on him.
Kuei throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kuei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cruzeiro sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cruzeiro throws a body punch but Kuei moves out of range.
Kuei flicks out a counter leg kick but Cruzeiro steps away.

Kuei throws a shot from downtown. Cruzeiro moves away and avoids it.
Kuei bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kuei ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cruzeiro moves away.

Cruzeiro wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Cruzeiro has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kuei thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruzeiro is on top in guard.

Kuei fails to land with a series of punches.

Kuei looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cruzeiro uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kuei.
Cruzeiro throws a low kick but Kuei avoids it.

Cruzeiro thuds his right hand into Kuei's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cruzeiro lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kuei has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kuei and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Kuei replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Cruzeiro blocks it well.
The crowd cheers as Kuei lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cruzeiro doesn't seem phased though.

Cruzeiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Kuei swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kuei walks forward, straight into a front kick from Cruzeiro.
Kuei has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cruzeiro finds it's way round the side to connect with Kuei's head.

Kuei closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cruzeiro quickly recovers to half guard.

Kuei seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kuei must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cruzeiro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuei's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Cruzeiro has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Kuei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cruzeiro lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Kuei falls backwards - clearly groggy! Cruzeiro dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
