Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johannes Boe (ranked 2846 p4p, 108 weight class) and Kyle Cruz (ranked 2379 p4p, 101 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Boe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Agnes - Release Me. The key to victory for Johannes Boe has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johannes Boe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kyle Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cruz throws a strike aimed at the side of Boe's head but Boe avoids it well.
Boe is not content to let Cruz control the position.

Boe managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Cruz.
Cruz passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Boe!
Cruz lands a nice shot to the head.
Cruz is landing with some decent strikes but Boe is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cruz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Cruz throwing strikes but Boe bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Cruz working for a triangle but Boe defends it easily.
Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet Cruz, not yet.
Boe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Boe postures up.
Boe wants to get up but he can't break Cruz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cruz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cruz wants to sweep but no luck.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruz can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boe content to stall in guard here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boe tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard.
Boe postures up.
Cruz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cruz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cruz wants to sweep but no luck.
Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Boe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cruz working for a triangle but Boe defends it easily.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cruz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Boe counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
A jab from Boe finds it's way through Cruz's defenses.
Boe connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Cruz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cruz tries for a takedown but Boe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Boe throws a quick counter head kick but Cruz was just out of range.
Johannes Boe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Cruz.
Boe connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cruz's hands.
Cruz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Boe counters with a leg kick.
BAM! Boe delivers a spinning backfist that drops Cruz like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Johannes Boe!
After winning the bout, Johannes Boe thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
