Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Lucas (ranked 5479 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kang Urip (ranked 5575 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kang Urip!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas shoots in looking for a takedown but Urip manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lucas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Urip swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Urip throws a right hand that Lucas ducks under and follows up with a left that Lucas also avoids with ease.

Urip felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Urip can do anything to dispel that myth.

Urip has hold of Lucas's hands but Lucas slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Lucas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Urip keeps working.
Urip is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lucas has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Lucas is trying to get an arm triangle but Urip is defending well.
Lucas cracks Urip with a big elbow.

Lucas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Urip, who protects the arm well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Urip dodges the ground and pound from Lucas.
Urip really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lucas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Urip bucks up and tries to throw Lucas off but instead Lucas has got his back!

Urip manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Lucas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Urip gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lucas is looking to take a break and control but Urip is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
