Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cesare Tiramanti (ranked 3688 p4p, 400 weight class) and Piet Smit (ranked 1327 p4p, 170 weight class). Smit has chosen Baby Got Back as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Piet Smit!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smit fails with the takedown.
As Smit tries to get set, Tiramanti tries to push him back and clinch up but Smit manages to avoid the attempt.
Tiramanti throws a big shot that misses.
Tiramanti misses with the combination.
Smit tries a quick counter leg kick but Tiramanti is wise to it.
Smit doesn't manage to clinch there - Tiramanti circles away.
Tiramanti wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smit gets a clinch.
Tiramanti prevents Smit from breaking the clinch.
Tiramanti effectively controlling the action here.

Tiramanti pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smit moves out of range of the strikes.

Tiramanti throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Tiramanti gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A right handed body shot lands from Tiramanti.
Smit's coach down at Temp Spar Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Smit's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Smit manages to break the clinch.
Tiramanti has managed to clinch.
Tiramanti is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Tiramanti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tiramanti has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Smit takes the fight into the clinch.
Tiramanti fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Smit blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Tiramanti stops a takedown attempt from Smit.
Cesare Tiramanti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Piet Smit.
Tiramanti dodges an elbow strike from Smit.
Tiramanti misses with a body punch.
Smit has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tiramanti after a bit of a struggle.

Tiramanti throws a punch but it's blocked by Smit.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Tiramanti.
Smit drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tiramanti gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Smit can't get the takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Smit.
Smit blocking some punches.
Tiramanti stalls.
Tiramanti tries to throw a body punch but Smit avoids it by throwing Tiramanti back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tiramanti is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smit is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Tiramanti to the mat. Tiramanti regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Smit landing some decent shots from guard.
Smit drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Smit seems to have locked his on tight now - Tiramanti screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Smit, as he picks up the win!
