The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arcidiacono fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Souza gets tackled into the cage by Arcidiacono. Arcidiacono maintains the clinch.
Arcidiacono takes a shot to the head.
Souza prevents a takedown attempt there.
Arcidiacono avoids a wild elbow strike from Souza.

Souza works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Arcidiacono scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Denzel Arcidiacono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souza dives in for a single leg takedown but Arcidiacono sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arcidiacono throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Arcidiacono defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Souza.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Arcidiacono.
Souza keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Souza drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Souza wants to stand but Arcidiacono is controlling his posture from full guard.

Souza slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza lands some shots froms side control.
Souza tries to stand but Arcidiacono is controlling his head.

Souza is working to tighten his grip on Arcidiacono's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Arcidiacono has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Souza is really squeezing tight and eventually Arcidiacono passes out! Souza breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
