Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arod Doyea (ranked 2696 p4p, 272 weight class) and Darragh Kelly (ranked 1925 p4p, 203 weight class). Doyea comes to the cage accompanied by Doc Holiday - Volbeat. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arod Doyea!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Darragh Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Doyea. That did some damage!
Doyea misses with a lunging right hand
and Kelly counters with a nice body kick.
Doyea lands with a straight right. Kelly didn't see that one coming.
Kelly thows a body kick. Doyea tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Kelly fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Doyea looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kelly steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Doyea.

Kelly closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kelly lands in his opponent's guard.
Kelly wants to pass the guard but Doyea is keeping the position.
Kelly trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Doyea has his foot on Kelly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doyea swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kelly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've been hearing good reports from Doyea's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Doyea has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kelly is on him like a limpet, forcing Doyea back against the cage.
Doyea swings wildly with an uppercut but Kelly uses good head movement to avoid it.
Doyea lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kelly backwards.
Kelly lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Doyea or not.
Doyea manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kelly struggles to land a body shot inside as Doyea controls his hands.

Kelly controls Doyea momentarily but Doyea frees himself.

Kelly is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kelly regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kelly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doyea doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doyea manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kelly is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kelly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Doyea is working away from the top position though.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Doyea misses with a looping right.
Doyea throws a sloppy head kick and Kelly moves out of range easily.
Doyea takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Kelly closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Kelly plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Doyea gets caught flat footed, as Kelly shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Doyea is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Doyea lands with a right to the head.
A right handed body shot lands from Kelly.
Kelly misses with a hook to the ribs.
Doyea lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Kelly jumps guard and drags Doyea to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Kelly thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Doyea thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kelly is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kelly's coach down at Pablo's Boxing Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kelly's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

A close second round but Darragh Kelly will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Kelly shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Doyea's guard.

Kelly tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kelly has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Doyea pushes Kelly away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kelly gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kelly has hold of Doyea's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Doyea manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Doyea has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kelly can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Darragh Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kelly winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
