PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mario Salinas (ranked 24817 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Jackson (ranked 6507 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Hunter Jackson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hunter Jackson !
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Salinas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jackson looks winded!
Salinas throwing strikes but missing.
Salinas won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.
Jackson has momentary wrist control but Salinas slips an elbow through the middle.

Salinas stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Salinas drives through with a takedown into guard.

Salinas's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Salinas is in close to Jackson 's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Jackson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Salinas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Salinas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes.

Salinas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard.

Salinas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jackson for as long as he can get away with.
Salinas looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Salinas is nestled in close to Jackson , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson is looking for a sweep. Salinas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Salinas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Salinas lands with a punch from half guard.

Salinas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Salinas eventually gives up the hold.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jackson throws a big counter head kick but Salinas avoids it with no problem.
Salinas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Salinas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Salinas shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Salinas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Salinas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Salinas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
