Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Vision (ranked 2630 p4p, 118 weight class) and Carlton Banks (ranked 1424 p4p, 62 weight class). Ray Vision had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlton Banks!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ray Vision seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vision throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vision throws a jab but it's blocked by Banks.

Vision drives through and clinches with Banks against the cage.
Banks prevents the takedown attempt.
Vision jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Banks walks away with a smile on his face. Vision gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Banks displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Ray Vision has been cut.

Vision moves into the clinch.

Vision works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Banks manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Vision gets control of Banks's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vision will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Banks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vision. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Banks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Banks has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Vision is landing a low percentage of strikes.
The crowd cheers as Banks lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vision doesn't seem phased though.
Banks scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Vision drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Vision throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Banks counters with a left to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Banks swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vision avoids the body shot from Banks.
Vision tries to counter by clinching up but Banks breaks away and moves out of range.
Vision misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Vision takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Vision finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Carlton Banks seems to be getting the better of the standup.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vision takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Vision ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Banks moves away.

Carlton Banks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Banks is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Vision flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Vision is out cold! Banks holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
