PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Too Eazy (ranked 4500 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Li (ranked 4847 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackie Li told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Too Eazy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jackie Li!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Li drives through and clinches with Eazy against the cage.
Li lands a hook that snaps the head of Eazy backwards.
Eazy tries to score a body lock takedown but Li shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Li gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eazy is looking for a sweep. Li is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Li is stalling here. Eazy is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Li seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Eazy has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Eazy controls the position.

Eazy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Eazy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Li is trying to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eazy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Li keeps working.

Eazy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Eazy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Eazy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Li has escaped the position, nice work there.

Eazy is trying to get an arm triangle but Li is defending well.

Eazy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Li gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Eazy seems to be working for a kimura but Li defends the submission attempt.

Li looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Eazy is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Li to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Li really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eazy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Eazy wants to control from the top but Li keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Too Eazy will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Li has closed the distance and engaged Eazy in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Li scores with a nice short uppercut.
Eazy is trying to drag Li to the mat but Li just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Li stalls.

Li escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Li tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Eazy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Li enables Eazy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Li manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Eazy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Li is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Li has escaped and now he's on top!

Eazy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Li is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Li passes Eazy's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Eazy looking for submissions off his back.
Eazy is trying to get back to full guard.
Li is taking a breather. Eazy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Eazy is positioning himself well to prevent Li advancing to mount.
Eazy moves into full guard.
Eazy pulls Li in close to prevent any damage.
Eazy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Eazy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Eazy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Eazy has gone for a leg lock! Li slips out almost immediately though and dives into Eazy's guard.

Eazy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Li is one step ahead there.

Eazy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Li can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Li is pushing down on Eazy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Eazy is fighting to maintain full guard but Li has managed to sneak the leg through.
Eazy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Eazy looking for a sweep. Not yet Eazy, not yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Eazy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Li's guard.

Eazy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Too Eazy will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Li tries to clinch there but Eazy circles away.

Eazy dives in and scores a takedown into Li's guard.

Eazy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Li dives on top into guard.


Li got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eazy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Li has managed to get both his arms back between Eazy's legs - danger averted.

Eazy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jackie Li has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Li is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Eazy changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Li is looking to clinch.

Eazy shoots in and gets a takedown into Li's guard.

Eazy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Li manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Eazy has Li in his guard.

Eazy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Li manages to get himself to full guard.


Eazy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Li is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Eazy, into his guard.

Eazy definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Eazy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Li is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Too Eazy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Eazy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
