Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cajetan Shashi (ranked 5573 p4p, 473 weight class) and Johnny Vegas (ranked 4235 p4p, 426 weight class). Vegas has chosen Ace Of Spades by Motorhead as his entrance music. Johnny Vegas has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Vegas!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shashi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vegas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shashi was well out of range. Poor timing from Vegas.
As Vegas looks to move away, Shashi throws a big counter combo but Vegas just gets out of the way.

Shashi gets a takedown into half guard.
Shashi prevents Vegas from improving his position.
Shashi throws a strike but Vegas avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Vegas keeping moving, preventing Shashi from controlling successfully.

Vegas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shashi controls from within his opponent's guard.

Shashi wants to work for an arm triangle but Vegas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shashi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vegas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Shashi wants to control from the top but Vegas keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Shashi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Shashi jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Shashi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shashi connects with a right hand. Vegas shakes it off.
Shashi misses with an uppercut. Vegas saw that one coming.
Vegas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vegas lands a two punch combo.

Shashi rushes Vegas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vegas tries for a takedown but Shashi manages to get underhooks.

Vegas is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Shashi to keep the fight standing.

Shashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

letting Vegas counter with a right hand.
Vegas throws a series of punches but Shashi moves out of range.

Vegas thows a body kick. Shashi tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Shashi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Vegas has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Vegas and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Vegas throws out a powerful jab.

Shashi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Shashi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vegas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shashi has managed to get both his arms back between Vegas's legs - danger averted.
Shashi passes Vegas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vegas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shashi is one step ahead there.

Vegas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shashi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shashi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cajetan Shashi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Vegas stalks Shashi and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Shashi's face. Shashi staggers backwards, shaken.

Vegas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Shashi shoots for a takedown but Vegas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Vegas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Vegas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shashi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Shashi shoots in and drives through. Vegas sprawls well.
Vegas throws a right and a left that Shashi avoids nicely.
Vegas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shashi circles away quickly and effectively.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vegas throws a sloppy head kick and Shashi moves out of range easily.

Shashi gets caught napping as Vegas dives in and scores a takedown. Shashi manages to retain guard.
Vegas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shashi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vegas's guard.


Shashi throws a sloppy strike and Vegas has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Shashi is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Vegas!

A very excited looking Johnny Vegas made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
