Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Monteiro (ranked 1265 p4p, 160 weight class) and Hulk Butane (ranked 1929 p4p, 231 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Butane's choice of entrance music: Genesis. Tony Monteiro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butane misses with a hook
and Monteiro counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Monteiro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Monteiro blocks a head kick by Butane.
Butane misses the body punch
and Monteiro counters with a left and a right that stings Butane.
A head kick misses from Monteiro.
Butane bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Monteiro's head backwards.
Butane cracks the inside of Monteiro's front leg.
Butane pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Monteiro throws a jab but it's blocked by Butane.
Butane throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like Monteiro wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Monteiro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Butane connects with a nice looking jab.

It looks like Tony Monteiro has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Butane takes a swing at Monteiro's ribcage but misses.
Hulk Butane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monteiro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Butane will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Butane clobbers Monteiro with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Butane throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monteiro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Butane is looking to score with low kicks.
A little feinted left hand from Monteiro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Monteiro on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Butane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monteiro is looking to counter punch.
Monteiro has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Butane.
Monteiro checks the leg kick nicely there.
And Monteiro counters with a quick kick to the body but Butane blocks it.
Monteiro uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Butane.
An attempted straight right counter from Monteiro misses the target.
Monteiro takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Butane misses with a leg kick.
Monteiro is looking to counter punch.
Butane buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Butane looks to score with a jab to the body but Monteiro is just out of range.
Butane throws an overhand right that lands on Monteiro's shoulder, as Monteiro tries to avoid the shot.
Monteiro was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Monteiro staying out of range there.
It looked like Monteiro wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Monteiro takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Monteiro takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Butane is looking to slow Monteiro down with leg kicks.

Butane darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Monteiro - that will leave a mark!
Butane thuds a left hand into Monteiro's body.

Butane steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Monteiro.
Monteiro defending well as Butane loads up on a big left hand.
Butane catches Monteiro with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Monteiro keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Butane.
Butane turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Monteiro seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Butane shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Monteiro is backing up but Butane catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Monteiro covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Butane Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hulk Butane!
