PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Goethals (ranked 5954 p4p, 417 weight class) and Cho Ba (ranked 5583 p4p, 407 weight class). Goethals's entrance music is Going Bad by Meek Mill Ft Drake. A fine choice. Cho Ba is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hunter Goethals!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cho Ba!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goethals wants to clinch.
Ba shapes to counter with a head kick.
Goethals really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Goethals is defended easily by Ba.
Ba stuffs the takedown attempt from Goethals. Goethals gets slowly back to his feet.
Goethals throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ba throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Goethals was covering up waiting for the punch and Ba finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goethals seems keen to control Ba's posture.
Ba trying to control but Goethals is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ba seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ba trying to control the position from guard on top but Goethals is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ba drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Goethals manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ba has Goethals in his guard.

Goethals stands and steps away. Ba gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ba looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Goethals clinches.

Ba pulls guard.
Ba tries to strike from the bottom.
Ba wants to get back to his feet but Goethals is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ba is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Goethals rolls with it to try and escape but Ba cranks on the arm and Goethals is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
