PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mono Loco (ranked 2771 p4p, 249 weight class) and Caniel Dormier (ranked 4324 p4p, 328 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mono Loco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Caniel Dormier!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loco goes for a double leg but Dormier avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dormier continues to drive forward.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dormier! But no joy.
Dormier stuffs the takedown.
Loco shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dormier as he avoids it easily.
Dormier appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mono Loco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Loco fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dormier avoids it really well and circles away.
Dormier throws out a counter right but Loco avoids it with no problem.
Loco changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dormier tries to avoid it but Loco manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dormier to the ground. Dormier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loco tries for a takedown but Dormier sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dormier looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Dormier displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Loco.

Loco misses with a takedown attempt - Dormier sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Caniel Dormier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Dormier throws out a counter right but Loco avoids it with no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Loco fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dormier unleashes a big counter combination but Loco bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Dormier defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Loco.
Loco shoots in but no luck this time.
Dormier is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Loco with a body shot.
Loco shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dormier defends it nicely.
Loco fails to land the takedown.
Dormier swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Loco.
Loco tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dormier defends well and Loco ends up having to push Dormier into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Dormier slaps away a takedown attempt from Loco, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Dormier connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Loco misses with a takedown
and Dormier counters with a nice low kick that buckles Loco's knee momentarily.
Loco shoots in looking for a takedown but Dormier manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Loco's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dormier lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Loco dives in for a single leg takedown but Dormier sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Loco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dormier looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dormier tries to bench press Loco off him but Loco keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caniel Dormier dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Dormier has his foot on Loco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Loco works his way back into a safe position though.

Dormier is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Loco connects with a nice short shot to Dormier's temple.

Loco seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Dormier is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mono Loco!
Our winner, Mono Loco, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
