PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rekis (ranked 4856 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micke Wagner (ranked 3924 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis comes into the arena with AC/DC - Thunderstruck blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rekis goes for a double leg but Wagner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wagner continues to drive forward.
Rekis doesn't manage to clinch there - Wagner circles away.
Wagner throws out a counter right but Rekis avoids it with no problem.
Wagner scores with a sloppy right hand. Rekis should have avoided that one.
Rekis misses with a takedown attempt
and Wagner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A punch combination from Wagner misses.
Rekis tries to counter with a takedown but Wagner is quick to defend against it.
Wagner slips a jab from Rekis.
Rekis throws a low kick but Wagner moves out of range easily.
A shot to the liver by Rekis. Beautiful body shot.
Wagner misses with a hook.
Wagner dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Wagner throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rekis on the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rekis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Rekis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rekis tries to clinch up.
Wagner scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rekis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wagner counters with a nice uppercut.
Rekis is breathing heavily.

Rekis takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Wagner lands a big uppercut and Rekis crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Rekis looks OK. Wagner waves Rekis back to his feet!

Rekis is rocked!
Wagner steps in with a hook that catches Rekis right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Wagner follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Rekis looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Micke Wagner!
An out of breath Micke Wagner thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
John Rekis was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back!!!'.
