Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Lara (ranked 5295 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal Fay (ranked 5213 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fay tries to close the distance and clinch but Lara swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fay is looking to clinch but Lara is avoiding it.
Fay avoids a punch combination nicely.

Fay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lara tries to avoid it but Fay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lara to the ground. Lara escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fay fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lara sprawls well initially but Fay persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lara flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Fay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lara is just riding it out for now. Fay eventually gives up the hold.

Fay thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lara's head.

Fay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lara with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lara throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Lara can't keep his opponent in guard - Fay advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lara moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fay drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fay jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
