Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roy Roach (ranked 3423 p4p, 375 weight class) and Takahashi Ryu (ranked 2313 p4p, 277 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Takahashi Ryu!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryu has Roach up against the ropes in a clinch.

Ryu jumps guard.
Roach won't allow Ryu to sweep him here.
Roach has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ryu is trying to control the position but Roach postures up.
Roach definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ryu keeping moving, preventing Roach from controlling successfully.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Roach is really struggling to control Ryu but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Roach knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ryu on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryu wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ryu is on top in guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Roach looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ryu is one step ahead there.

Ryu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Roach on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roach tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Roach is working an open guard so Ryu takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Ryu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Roach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ryu somewhat.

Ryu closes the distance and pushes Roach back into the ropes.
Roach gets underhooks to prevent Ryu's takedown attempt.
Ryu has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Roach after a bit of a struggle.
Roy Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takahashi Ryu.

Ryu breaks the clinch.
Roach will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ryu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Roach defends well and Ryu ends up having to push Roach into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ryu slips a jab and a cross from Roach.
Ryu is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Ryu tries to close the distance and clinch but Roach swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ryu dives in for a single leg takedown but Roach sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Roach connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

It looks like Takahashi Ryu has been cut.
A big right from Roach misses.
Ryu ducks under a wild hook from Roach.
Roach looks to throw the jab but Ryu is out of range.
Ryu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Roach.
Roach throws a jab when Ryu was well out of range.
Roach thows a left - swing and a miss!
No joy there for Roach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ryu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roach defends it nicely.

The fighters circle momentarily. Roach darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Roach is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ryu.
Ryu takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Ryu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ryu shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Roach is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ryu can do to turn this around?

Oooooh!!! Roach has knocked Ryu down with a huge combo! Roach steps away and waves a wobbly Ryu back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Roach misses with a looping left.
Ryu shoots in and drives through. Roach sprawls well.
Roach is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Ryu takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Ryu is rocked!
Ryu moves out of range of the strikes.
Ryu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Roach circles away.
Roy Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takahashi Ryu.
Roach fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ryu looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ryu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roach pinned against the ropes. Roach gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ryu connects with a body shot that sends Roach's belly button to the back.
Ryu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Roach throws a hook to the side of Ryu's head but Ryu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ryu wants to counter with a clinch but Roach pushes him away.

Roach throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Ryu colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Roach as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Ryu is left battered and dazed whilst Roach and his camp cheer!
