Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Volya Nikolaev (ranked 187 p4p, 24 weight class) and Gauthier St. Georges (ranked 304 p4p, 38 weight class). Nikolaev comes to the cage accompanied by Fever . St. Georges has chosen Jiu Jitsu as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nikolaev looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for St. Georges!

St. Georges told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

We've been hearing that Nikolaev has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
St. Georges is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nikolaev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

St. Georges really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nikolaev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
St. Georges looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
St. Georges has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Nikolaev has passed into side control.
Nikolaev is trying to move to mount but St. Georges reverses beautifully and ends up in Nikolaev's guard.

Nikolaev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nikolaev has an active guard here but St. Georges has managed to pass into half guard.

St. Georges content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Nikolaev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Nikolaev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but St. Georges can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
St. Georges must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
St. Georges is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

St. Georges has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Nikolaev to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! St. Georges is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Nikolaev pulls down on the head and he's put St. Georges to sleep! This one is all over!

After the fight, Volya Nikolaev was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
