PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Woodcock (ranked 2052 p4p, 287 weight class) and Suchart Cobb (ranked 2323 p4p, 314 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Suchart Cobb was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Woodcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Suchart Cobb!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cobb walks into a straight right hand from Woodcock.
Woodcock cracks Cobb with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Woodcock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cobb moves away.
Woodcock lands a jab.
Cobb rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Woodcock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cobb needs to keep his hands up - Woodcock had a free shot at his head there.
Woodcock throws a body shot but no joy.
Cobb darts in trying to clinch
and Woodcock counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Woodcock misses with a looping left.
Cobb avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Cobb gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Woodcock misses with a body punch.
Woodcock blocks an uppercut.
Cobb has a couple of punches blocked by Woodcock.
Woodcock is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Cobb misses with some punches.
A short body shot lands from Cobb as the two fighters clinch.
Woodcock wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cobb lands a body shot.
Cobb lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Woodcock has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

A quick step to the side and Woodcock tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cobb needs to keep his hands up - Woodcock had a free shot at his head there.
Cobb tries to close the distance and clinch up but Woodcock swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cobb lands an overhand right.


It looks like Peter Woodcock has been cut.

Cobb gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Woodcock lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Woodcock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No joy there for Woodcock, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Woodcock uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cobb has time to react.

Woodcock pushes Cobb back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Still in the clinch, Woodcock scores with a nice short uppercut.

Woodcock is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Woodcock throws a nice looking combination but Cobb bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Woodcock lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Cobb lands a right hand that snaps the head of Woodcock backwards.
Woodcock scores with a hook to the body.
Cobb throws a punch but it's blocked by Woodcock.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Woodcock scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Woodcock lands with a short shot to the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Woodcock.

Woodcock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Woodcock throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cobb throws a shot from downtown. Woodcock moves away and avoids it.
Cobb tries to clinch but Woodcock is having none of it.
Cobb tries to clinch but Woodcock moves out of range.
Suchart Cobb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cobb takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Woodcock counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Woodcock counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cobb swinging wildly here.
Woodcock misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

It looked like Woodcock wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Woodcock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cobb circles away quickly and effectively.

Woodcock cracks Cobb with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Cobb looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Woodcock finish him?


It looks like Suchart Cobb has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cobb walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Cobb limp body while Woodcock jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Peter Woodcock!
During a confident post fight interview, Peter Woodcock thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
