PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samson Goldstein (ranked 231 p4p, 37 weight class) and Bunny Anstey (ranked 571 p4p, 77 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Samson Goldstein has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Samson Goldstein seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 51 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Samson Goldstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bunny Anstey!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldstein moves in looking to clinch but Anstey pushes him off.
Goldstein sets himself, and Anstey steps forward looking for the clinch! Goldstein avoids it this time.

Anstey drives through with a takedown into Goldstein's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Anstey throws a fast counter high kick but Goldstein manages to duck under it in time.

Samson Goldstein is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Goldstein loads up on a big right hand but Anstey slips the punch.

Anstey scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Anstey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Anstey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Samson Goldstein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anstey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goldstein keeps working.
Goldstein takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Anstey creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Goldstein sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The referee asks Anstey politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Anstey prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Anstey is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Anstey seems to be looking for submissions.
Anstey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Anstey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Goldstein with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

A close round but Bunny Anstey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Anstey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goldstein tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Anstey was well out of range. Poor timing from Goldstein.

and Anstey holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Goldstein digs a right hand into Anstey's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Anstey's gas tank.

Anstey is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Goldstein still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Goldstein has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Goldstein throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Anstey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Anstey has instead reached around Goldstein's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Anstey arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
