Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Midget (ranked 532 p4p, 71 weight class) and Claudio Gadelha (ranked 2948 p4p, 328 weight class). Gadelha has chosen Melle Mel - Step Off as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Midget!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Claudio Gadelha!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Midget avoids the body shot from Gadelha.
Midget changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A nice combination there by Gadelha.
Midget bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gadelha works Midget's body with a nice hook.
Gadelha throws a hook but Midget avoids it easily.
Midget avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gadelha throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gadelha tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Midget was well out of range. Poor timing from Gadelha.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gadelha uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Gadelha throws a jab but it's blocked by Midget.
Midget steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gadelha.
Midget tries to counter with a takedown but Gadelha is quick to defend against it.
Gadelha leaves Midget with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gadelha looks to land a combination but Midget avoids it well.
Gadelha fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Midget on the side of the head.

Midget attempts a counter takedown but Gadelha avoids it well and moves away.

Gadelha throws a body punch but Midget moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Midget enables Gadelha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Midget manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gadelha wants to control from the top but Midget keeps moving.
Midget seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Gadelha got a little sloppy there for a moment and Midget has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gadelha has managed to get both his arms back between Midget's legs - danger averted.

Gadelha frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gadelha tries to control but Midget wriggling away.
Midget is trying to escape the mount.

Gadelha with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Midget tries to hold on but Gadelha postures up.
Midget is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Gadelha is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Midget is surviving well by controlling Gadelha's body position as best he can.

Midget is just holding on here. Gadelha manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Claudio Gadelha dominated that round.
That's time! Midget's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gadelha feints a jab promting Midget to slip. Gadelha then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Midget slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Midget is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Gadelha as he works his way to full guard.

Midget seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gadelha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Midget is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gadelha is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gadelha has escaped and now he's on top!

My spies in Team Beta Fail inform me that Gadelha has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Midget is looking for a triangle here but Gadelha uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Gadelha wants to pass to mount but Midget is defending the position.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Gadelha. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Gadelha wants to finish this one by submission but Midget is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gadelha.
Gadelha has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Midget is trying to reverse the position but instead Gadelha has taken his back - oops!
You can see the frustration on Midget's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gadelha sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Midget taps out!
