Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Zenon (ranked 1049 p4p, 141 weight class) and DJ Gunnar (ranked 1227 p4p, 159 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Apollo Zenon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Gunnar!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunnar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zenon swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gunnar.
Zenon lands with a nice body punch.
Gunnar catches Zenon with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Zenon misses with a wild body shot.
Zenon scores with a jab. Gunnar acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Zenon dodges the punch combination from Gunnar.
No joy there for Gunnar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gunnar jabs Zenon to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Zenon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Zenon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gunnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zenon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gunnar wants to sweep but no luck.

Zenon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Zenon is working for a kimura but Gunnar is defending it quite comfortably.
Zenon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zenon wants to free his trapped foot but Gunnar is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gunnar is in trouble now - Zenon has advanced to mount!

Gunnar is looking to improve his position but Zenon isn't that keen on the idea.

Zenon is working for a guillotine from mount but Gunnar frees his head quite easily.
Zenon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gunnar is surviving well by controlling Zenon's body position as best he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

I really don't envy Gunnar right now.
Gunnar is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
You can see the frustration on Gunnar's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Zenon is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gunnar loads up on a big right hand but Zenon slips the punch.
Zenon on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Zenon looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Zenon fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gunnar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zenon tries to counter by clinching up but Gunnar breaks away and moves out of range.
Gunnar lands with an overhand left.

Gunnar throws a jab when Zenon was well out of range.
Zenon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Zenon slips under a jab from Gunnar.
Gunnar lands a body shot.
Zenon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Zenon controls the position from side control.

Zenon is trying to move to mount but Gunnar reverses beautifully and ends up in Zenon's guard.
Zenon pulls Gunnar in close to his closed guard and prevents Gunnar from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gunnar wants to pass the guard but Zenon is keeping the position.
Gunnar looking to sit in guard and control but Zenon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Zenon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gunnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Apollo Zenon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Still in half guard, Zenon seems content to control.
Zenon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Gunnar wants to control but Zenon is keeping busy.
Well, if Zenon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gunnar wants to get back to full guard but Zenon has passed into side control.
Zenon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Zenon moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Zenon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gunnar for as long as he can get away with.
Gunnar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Apollo Zenon dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Gunnar misses with a leg kick
and Zenon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That kick from Gunnar tenderised Zenon's leg. Zenon is trying to keep his angry face on.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Zenon here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
A telegraphed right hand from Gunnar misses the target.
Gunnar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gunnar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Zenon misses with an uppercut
and Gunnar counters with a straight right hand.
Gunnar fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Zenon has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Zenon throws an overhand right that lands on Gunnar's shoulder, as Gunnar tries to avoid the shot.
Gunnar misses with a body shot.
Zenon throws the left hand but Gunnar avoids the punch easily.
As Zenon backs off Gunnar throws a huge counter combo but Zenon manages to avoid it all.
Gunnar delivers a nice body kick.
A good leg kick by Gunnar.
Gunnar tries to land a front kick but Zenon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Zenon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Zenon lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zenon is pushing down on Gunnar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gunnar is fighting to maintain full guard but Zenon has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gunnar wants to control but Zenon is keeping busy.

Zenon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gunnar can do to turn this around?

Zenon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Gunnar is desperately trying to improve his position but Zenon has a good base and remains in mount.
Gunnar tries to hold on but Zenon postures up.
Zenon wants to take Gunnar's back here but Gunnar is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Zenon avoids the attempt from Gunnar to control.

Gunnar sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Zenon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gunnar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zenon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Zenon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zenon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
