Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Disi (ranked 1684 p4p, 78 weight class) and Preston Mason (ranked 1816 p4p, 88 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Emilio Disi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Preston Mason!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Disi works Mason's body with a nice hook.
Disi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Disi clinches up against the cage.
Mason is looking to take this one to the mat.
Our sources have told us that Disi has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Disi stops a takedown attempt from Mason.
A right hook to the body lands for Disi.
Disi stalling the fight.
A bit of stalling here from Disi.
A short right from Disi.
Come on Disi - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
A shot in the inside from Mason.
Disi lands a good knee to the midsection. Mason won't want to take too many of those.
Mason misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Disi.

Disi breaks the clinch.
Disi catches Mason with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A looping hook to the body misses from Mason. Disi does a little dance to reset his feet.

Disi has Mason up against the cage in a clinch.

Mason dodges the punch combination from Disi.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mason fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Emilio Disi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Preston Mason.
Disi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mason changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - Disi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Disi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mason moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mason is stalling here. Disi is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mason seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Disi has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Mason felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
You can see the frustration on Mason's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mason wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mason manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mason has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Disi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mason is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Disi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mason has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Disi has managed to get both his arms back between Mason's legs - danger averted.
Mason wants to sweep here but Disi controlling him for the moment.
Disi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Disi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Disi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Disi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mason closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Disi quickly recovers to half guard.

Disi kicks Mason off and gets back to his feet.
Mason fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Disi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason slips under a jab.
Disi slaps away a takedown attempt from Mason, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Disi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mason was well out of range. Poor timing from Disi.

Mason closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mason lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Disi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mason can do to turn this around?

Disi wants to stand and escape but Mason is having none of it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mason accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mason drops back, looking for a kneebar! Disi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Disi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Disi!

Disi wants to stand but Mason is controlling his arm.

Disi is staying tight to Mason's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Disi is looking to take a break and control but Mason is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mason is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Disi's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Disi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Disi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That was a close second round but I would say that Emilio Disi will probably get the nod.
That's time! Disi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Preston Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Preston Mason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Disi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
