PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walter Lang (ranked 4743 p4p, 457 weight class) and Stevie Franchise (ranked 4981 p4p, 471 weight class). Lang comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the Jungle. Franchise is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Microphone Fiend- Rage Against the Machine. Stevie Franchise told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Walter Lang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Franchise!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lang throws a head kick that misses.
Franchise uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lang.
Lang takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Franchise.
Franchise throws a body shot but no joy.
A head kick by Lang misses
and Lang takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lang. Franchise does a little dance to reset his feet.
A countering left hand to the body from Franchise misses.
Franchise blocks a head kick by Lang.
Franchise checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Franchise appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Franchise moves away from the strike by Lang.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A lazy left from Lang finds it's target.
Franchise blocks a head kick by Lang.
Lang throws a head kick but Franchise moves out of range.
Lang takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


It looks like Walter Lang has been cut.
Franchise lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


Lang is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Franchise manages to avoid it.
Lang throws a head kick that misses
and Franchise counters with a nice body shot.
Franchise slips under a jab.
Lang throws a shot from downtown. Franchise moves away and avoids it.
Lang misses with a series of wild punches.
Lang gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Oh Lang is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've been told by Lang's head coaches at Fight Hard that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Lang looks to score with a jab to the body but Franchise is just out of range.
Lang seems to have got his legs back now.
Lang scores with a punch to the head.
Franchise takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Franchise throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Franchise lands a left and a right that send Lang crashing to the mat, dazed. Franchise thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lang misses with a looping left.
Lang's jab looks to have found its range, popping Franchise under the eye.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Franchise defending well as Lang loads up on a big left hand.
Franchise throws a counter combo.
Lang moves away from the strike by Franchise.
It looked like Lang was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Franchise missing with a left hand there. Lang was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lang looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Franchise looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Franchise fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Lang to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Lang looks to clinch but Franchise throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Lang taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Stevie Franchise!
Stevie Franchise really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Voodoo Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
In defeat, Walter Lang stepped up to the mic, saying 'I want to thank Freebok for sponsoring me. Buy there the have cool stuff!!! FREEBOK!!!'.
