PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy White (ranked 1992 p4p, 234 weight class) and Johnny Vegas (ranked 1325 p4p, 153 weight class). Vegas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ace Of Spades by Motorhead. Johnny Vegas struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. On his way into the cage it seems that Freddy White has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Freddy White seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Johnny Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegas scores with the left hand. White knows he should have avoided that one.
A combination from Vegas does no damage.
Vegas on the wrong end of a nice jab.
White dodges the punch combination from Vegas.
White throws out a leg kick but Vegas moves out of range and White only half commits.
Vegas takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
White connects with a leg kick. Vegas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A low kick from White misses

and Vegas counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for White!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vegas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, White has escaped the position, nice work there.

Vegas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but White is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas scoring with punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Vegas stalls from top position.
Vegas is looking to take a break and control but White is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vegas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. White knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
White is pushing Vegas's head away, looking to escape. Vegas manages to hold on to the position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vegas with the ground and pound but White regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
White has hold of Vegas's hands but Vegas slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
White wants to get back to his feet.

Vegas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so White is just riding it out for now. Vegas eventually gives up the hold.
Vegas working over White with some ground and pound. White looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Vegas wants to work for an arm triangle but White is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vegas with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Vegas prevents White from standing back up.

Vegas is working for a kimura but White is defending it quite comfortably.
White is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Vegas scores with a couple of nice shots.
White is trying to stand back up but Vegas is controlling him

White is defending against the submission attempts here by Vegas.
White is trying to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
White pushes Vegas off but Vegas dives into side control.
White wants to get back to his feet but Vegas drags him back down.
Vegas wants to control but White is keeping him busy.
Vegas throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and White works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vegas has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can White defend it? Vegas steps over the head and cranks it - White is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Vegas!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnny Vegas!
Our winner, Johnny Vegas, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
In defeat, Freddy White stepped up to the mic, saying 'Back to the drawing board '.
