PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Sheehy (ranked 2072 p4p, 239 weight class) and Sergei Ulatov (ranked 2327 p4p, 260 weight class). Sheehy comes into the arena with Tree falls - Timber! blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheehy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ulatov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Sheehy tries to sprawl but Ulatov drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ulatov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sheehy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ulatov slips a nice elbow through Sheehy's hands, connecting with Sheehy's forehead.
Ulatov not landing any meaningful shots this time.

My spies in Ippon Squad inform me that Ulatov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sheehy is trying to control but Ulatov manages to pass to mount!
Sheehy tries to lock up and control but Ulatov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Sheehy is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ulatov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Sheehy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ulatov lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sheehy is squirming around, avoiding Ulatov's attempts to control the action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sheehy rolls, trying to escape but Ulatov keeps control of the position.
The referee is taking a good look at Sheehy as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Ulatov!
Ulatov is controlling the position but Sheehy somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Sheehy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ulatov pulls his head out easily.
Ulatov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sheehy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sheehy has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Ulatov. Oh but Sheehy has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Ulatov goes limp - he's gone! Sheehy jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

A relieved looking Ethan Sheehy thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
