PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Holmes (ranked 2988 p4p, 307 weight class) and Qhorin Halfhand (ranked 2062 p4p, 224 weight class). Halfhand is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still. Qhorin Halfhand told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Qhorin Halfhand!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Halfhand sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Holmes throws the left hand but Halfhand avoids the punch easily.
Holmes avoids the body shot from Halfhand.

Halfhand drives through and clinches with Holmes against the cage.

Halfhand escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Holmes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Halfhand to score with a decent uppercut.
Halfhand throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Halfhand.
Halfhand lands a head kick. Holmes smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holmes on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Halfhand drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Halfhand won't allow Holmes to sweep him here.
Halfhand stands up over Holmes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Halfhand wants to pass the guard but Holmes is keeping the position.
Halfhand working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holmes's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Halfhand works over Holmes with some ground and pound from guard.
Holmes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Holmes trying to control the position from guard on top but Halfhand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Halfhand keeping full guard, as Holmes tries to pass.

Halfhand has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Holmes has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Holmes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Halfhand knocks Holmes to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big shot lands for Halfhand! That's hurt Holmes! Will he recover? Halfhand fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
