Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Martin (ranked 7466 p4p, 600 weight class) and Eddie Spears (ranked 5767 p4p, 557 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 wins, 1 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Sydney, Mitch Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of New York, Eddie Spears!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin scores with a three punch combo!
Mitch Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Spears throws a counter combo.
Martin throws a hook but Spears avoids it easily.
Martin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Spears stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Spears shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Martin as he avoids it easily.
Martin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Spears tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Sloppy strikes from Martin. Those never looked like landing.
And Spears tries to counter it with a takedown but Martin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Martin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Spears stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've been hearing reports that Martin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Martin looks to land a combination but Spears avoids it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin throws a right and a left that Spears avoids nicely.
Spears lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Spears.

Martin misses with a hook. Spears ducked under it nicely.
Spears throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martin's waist but Martin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spears off to one side.
Martin lands a jab to Spears's midsection.
Spears looks to land a body kick but Martin moved away.

Spears gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Martin is trying to stall.
Martin swings wildly with an uppercut but Spears uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Spears throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martin's waist but Martin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spears off to one side.

Martin tries to clinch up but Spears circles away and keeps his distance.
Martin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Spears shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Martin sprawls well. Martin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Spears gets slowly back to his feet.

Spears tries to score a power double leg takedown but Martin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Spears somewhat.

Spears shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Spears was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Martin tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin wants to hold on but Spears pushes him away.

Spears tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Spears is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Martin reaches up to try and control the position but Spears seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Martin rolls and tries to escape and now Spears has his back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spears working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Spears looking for the choke but no joy.
Spears punches Martin on the ear.
Eddie Spears has got the better of the ground game so far.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Spears is riding his opponent, not letting Martin buck him off.
Martin trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Mitch Martin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
