Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklin James White Schmidt (ranked 2299 p4p, 100 weight class) and Jimbo Covert (ranked 2904 p4p, 119 weight class). Franklin James White Schmidt has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covert throws a push kick but Schmidt slaps the foot to one side.
Covert dips to his left and cracks Schmidt with an uppercut!
Schmidt takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Covert works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Covert throws a low kick but it's checked well by Schmidt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Covert darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Schmidt throws a jab but it's blocked by Covert.
Jimbo Covert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schmidt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Covert manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Covert tries to bum rush Schmidt with a series of wild strikes but Schmidt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Covert moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Schmidt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Covert.

Covert lands with an uppercut that bounces Schmidt off the cage and back into range.

Schmidt is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Covert's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Covert has his foot on Schmidt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schmidt works his way back into a safe position though.
Schmidt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Schmidt content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Covert has locked up a guillotine! Covert's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Schmidt is holding on here and Covert must be using up a lot of energy. Schmidt has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Covert gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
