Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Lydon (ranked 2061 p4p, 305 weight class) and Mario Jones (ranked 1999 p4p, 270 weight class). Johnny Lydon had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mario Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones blocks the body kick.
Lydon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jones gets tackled into the cage by Lydon. Lydon maintains the clinch.
Lydon lands a shot to the body.
Lydon goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Lydon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lydon chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jones can pounce on him.
Lydon gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lydon circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones scores with a body shot.
Jones lands a nice shot to the body.
Jones on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lydon wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lydon scores with a kick to the midsection.

Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jones goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Lydon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Lydon. Lydon obviously looking to wear him down.

Lydon looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.

Jones takes the fight into the clinch.
Lydon is trying to push Jones away but Jones has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lydon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Lydon rather than just go for the knockout.
Jones scores with a jab. Lydon acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Jones tries to clinch but Lydon moves out of range.

Jones moves out of range of the leg kick from Lydon.
Lydon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lydon's hands.

Jones lands a left and a right that sends Lydon crashing to the canvas! Jones dives into mount looking to finish!

Lydon is rocked!

It looks like Johnny Lydon has been cut.

Jones postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Lydon in real trouble here! The ref calls for Lydon to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

After the fight, Mario Jones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
