PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Sheehy (ranked 3342 p4p, 370 weight class) and Papa John (ranked 2532 p4p, 297 weight class). Sheehy comes to the cage accompanied by Tree falls - Timber!. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Papa John!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from John. Sheehy does a little dance to reset his feet.

Sheehy moves into the clinch.
Sheehy misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sheehy scores with a shoulder strike.
John using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sheehy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

John tries to throw a body punch but Sheehy avoids it by throwing John back against the cage.

John misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sheehy.

Sheehy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sheehy dips to his left and cracks John with an uppercut!

John drives through and clinches with Sheehy against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sheehy creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Sheehy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
John doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Sheehy breaks the clinch.
John throws a series of strikes that have Sheehy backpedaling.

It looks like Ethan Sheehy has been cut.

Sheehy takes the fight into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
John pushes off an throws an elbow but Sheehy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
John misses with a punch to the body.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Sheehy jumps guard.

Sheehy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. John is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sheehy.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Sheehy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Sheehy misses with some strikes from the bottom.
John blocks the strikes from Sheehy.

It looks like John is going to stand back up.

John passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sheehy!

Sheehy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Sheehy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but John pulls his head out easily.
Sheehy is not content to let John control the position.

Sheehy has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for John. Oh but Sheehy has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! John goes limp - he's gone! Sheehy jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
