Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gennady Mikhasevich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary The Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Reaper dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mikhasevich looks to land a right hand but The Reaper moved out of range.

The Reaper shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Reaper showed some decent athleticism there.

Mikhasevich manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. The Reaper keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Mikhasevich breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The Reaper shoots and misses
letting Mikhasevich counter with a right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The Reaper shoots in looking for a takedown but Mikhasevich manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Reaper's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The Reaper misses the body punch
and Mikhasevich counters with a one-two to the body.
Mikhasevich misses with an uppercut.
The Reaper shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mikhasevich defends it nicely.
Gennady Mikhasevich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary The Reaper.

Mikhasevich blocks a jab.
The Reaper connects with a crisp jab.
Mikhasevich throws a lazy right hand but The Reaper sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mikhasevich misses with an uppercut. The Reaper saw that one coming.
Mikhasevich scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. The Reaper doesn't seem bothered though.

The Reaper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The Reaper throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The Reaper throws a strike but Mikhasevich avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mikhasevich avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mikhasevich wants to stand up but The Reaper is controlling him.
The Reaper throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The Reaper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Mikhasevich manages to escape and get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mikhasevich lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The Reaper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Reaper throws a combination that misses
and Mikhasevich counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The Reaper looks for a takedown but Mikhasevich sprawls well.
The Reaper misses with a left hand
and Mikhasevich counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
The Reaper gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and The Reaper takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The Reaper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mikhasevich was well out of range. Poor timing from The Reaper.
The Reaper fails with the takedown
and Mikhasevich connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The Reaper swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The Reaper throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mikhasevich bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps The Reaper's head backwards.
The Reaper shoots in and drives through. Mikhasevich sprawls well.
The Reaper is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mikhasevich rather than just go for the knockout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The Reaper lands with a nice body punch.
The Reaper misses with a hook to the body
letting Mikhasevich counter with a right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The Reaper throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mikhasevich scores with a counter punch that sends The Reaper to the canvas! Mikhasevich smells blood - he's punishing The Reaper with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! The Reaper has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gennady Mikhasevich!
