Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Nilsen (ranked 2543 p4p, 350 weight class) and Osama Akharraz (ranked 2212 p4p, 322 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Nilsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Osama Akharraz!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akharraz scores with a jab. Nilsen acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Nilsen tries to keep at a distance but Akharraz has taken the fight into the clinch.
Nilsen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Nilsen.
Nilsen working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
A head punch on the inside from Nilsen fails to land.
Nilsen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Nilsen tries to land knees in the clinch but Akharraz avoids the damage to the body.
Akharraz leaning his opponent against the cage.
Nilsen misses with a punch on the inside.
Akharraz lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Nilsen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Akharraz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nilsen is looking to control Akharraz's arms but Akharraz gets an underhook and turns him. Now Nilsen has his back to the cage.
Akharraz is trying to force a seperation but Nilsen has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akharraz is trying to break the clinch but Nilsen is controlling him.
Nilsen managing to block the knees to the body from Akharraz.
A head punch on the inside from Nilsen fails to land.

Akharraz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A big right from Akharraz misses.
Akharraz misses with the combination.
Dennis Nilsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akharraz feints a jab promting Nilsen to slip. Akharraz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Nilsen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Dennis Nilsen has been cut.
Nilsen goes for a double leg but Akharraz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Akharraz continues to drive forward.
Akharraz has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Nilsen is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Nilsen swings widly with a right hand
and Akharraz counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nilsen misses with a body punch
and Nilsen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nilsen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nilsen connects with a body shot.
Akharraz loads up on a big right hand but Nilsen slips the punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akharraz throws a series of punches but Nilsen avoids them all with ease.
Nilsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nilsen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Akharraz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nilsen lands an overhand right.
Nilsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Akharraz manages to avoid it.
Nilsen throws a right hand that misses
and Akharraz counters with a three punch combo that has Nilsen backing up. Nilsen nods at Akharraz to acknowledge the strikes.
Nilsen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Akharraz was well out of range. Poor timing from Nilsen.
Akharraz lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Nilsen throws a sloppy body shot

and Akharraz counters with a crisp right hand that drops Nilsen! Akharraz lets Nilsen back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Nilsen is rocked!

Akharraz forces Nilsen back against the cage and clinches.
Oh Nilsen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nilsen struggles to land a body shot inside as Akharraz controls his hands.

Akharraz breaks the clinch.
Akharraz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nilsen swings widly with a right hand
and Akharraz counters with a huge right that knocks Nilsen out cold! Akharraz is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Osama Akharraz!
