Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akoni Gray (ranked 23 p4p, 4 weight class) and Kevin Garbutt (ranked 142 p4p, 24 weight class). Garbutt is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garbutt on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gray. Gray obviously looking to wear him down.
Kevin Garbutt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gray throws a sloppy head kick and Garbutt moves out of range easily.
Gray looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A punch lands to the side of Gray 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Garbutt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gray was well out of range. Poor timing from Garbutt.
Gray fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Garbutt manages to avoid it.

Garbutt scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gray in his tracks.
Garbutt takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Gray cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Gray gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gray is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Garbutt presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A very excited looking Akoni Gray rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
