PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erik Hiller (ranked 2669 p4p, 73 weight class) and Krom Kong (ranked 7253 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hiller might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rush and Run - Shake and Jump. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erik Hiller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krom Kong!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hiller shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hiller showed some decent athleticism there.
Kong is controlling Hiller's trapped leg to prevent Hiller from advancing to side control.

Kong is refusing to be controlled, as Hiller sits in half guard.
Hiller wants to free his trapped foot but Kong is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hiller seems to be working for a kimura but Kong defends the submission attempt.
Hiller has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hiller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hiller postures up in Kong's guard and throws a big left but Kong blocks it.

Kong moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Kong lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kong.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Krom Kong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kong stalks Hiller and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hiller's face. Hiller staggers backwards, shaken.
Kong ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hiller moves away.
Kong leaves Hiller with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hiller wants to clinch.
As Hiller backs off Kong throws a huge counter combo but Hiller manages to avoid it all.
Hiller is looking to clinch but Kong is avoiding it.
Kong lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hiller checks a leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Hiller. Those never looked like landing.
Hiller moves in looking to clinch but Kong pushes him off.

and Kong counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Hiller wants to clinch but Kong slips to the side
and Kong counters with a straight right hand.
Good leg kick by Kong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hiller is looking to clinch but Kong is avoiding it.
Hiller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kong.
Hiller misses with a two punch combination.

Hiller closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kong did well to prevent Hiller getting side control.

Kong has one foot on Hiller's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A jab lands there for Kong.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hiller lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kong has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kong and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Hiller fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kong avoids it really well and circles away.

Hiller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Hiller decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kong's guard.

Kong manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Come on Hiller - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Kong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kong wants to get back to striking at distance but Hiller won't allow it.
Kong prevents a body shot from Hiller.

Hiller turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hiller manages to end up in side control.
Kong is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hiller is looking to take a break and control but Kong is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hiller fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hiller staying calm.
Kong is trying to control Hiller's posture but Hiller avoids it.

Krom Kong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
