Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Because I Can (ranked 2299 p4p, 221 weight class) and Herschel Pettaway (ranked 4469 p4p, 335 weight class). Pettaway is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Empire State of Mind - Jay Z. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Because I Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Herschel Pettaway!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
I Can takes one to the chin there.
I Can fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pettaway misses with the combination.
Pettaway misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from I Can.
Pettaway swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Pettaway throws a wild body kick that I Can sees coming a mile off.
Herschel Pettaway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
I Can drops his hands momentarily and Pettaway takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
I Can throws a lazy uppercut
and Pettaway counters with a left to the body.
Pettaway moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
I Can tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pettaway defends well and I Can ends up having to push Pettaway into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pettaway darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
I Can cracks Pettaway with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
I Can tries to bum rush Pettaway with a series of wild strikes but Pettaway uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pettaway scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
I Can shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pettaway! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Because I Can. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pettaway.

I Can changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
I Can swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Pettaway counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pettaway. I Can does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pettaway lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Pettaway thows a left - swing and a miss!
I Can was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Pettaway needs to keep his hands up - I Can had a free shot at his head there.
Pettaway's hands are dropping dangerously low here and I Can connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pettaway scrambles back to his feet.

I Can seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Pettaway drops his hands momentarily and I Can takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
I Can shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pettaway but Pettaway pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Pettaway leaves I Can with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looks like I Can has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
I Can checks a leg kick nicely.
Pettaway misses with a combination
and I Can connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
I Can lands a jab to the nose.
Pettaway throws a predictable looking body shot
and I Can cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

I Can takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Pettaway lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but I Can circles away quickly and effectively.

I Can shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pettaway is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. I Can is aware though and is defending well.

I Can wants to control from the top but Pettaway keeps moving.
I Can is pushing down on Pettaway's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pettaway is fighting to maintain full guard but I Can has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pettaway is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pettaway manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. I Can manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's time! I Can's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

It looked like I Can was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pettaway has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

I Can showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pettaway.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettaway moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from I Can.
I Can dodges the punch combination from Pettaway.
Pettaway looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pettaway moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Pettaway stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pettaway wants it to stay on the feet.
I Can shoots for a double leg takedown but Pettaway sprawls well. He's pushed I Can's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A punch lands to the side of I Can 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
I Can uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pettaway.

I Can half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Pettaway throws a nice looking combination but I Can bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

I Can closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pettaway to the mat! Pettaway manages to get full guard.
I Can won't allow Pettaway to sweep him here.
Herschel Pettaway is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pettaway working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. I Can doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. I Can manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I Can doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

I Can throws a right hand that Pettaway ducks under and follows up with a left that Pettaway also avoids with ease.

Pettaway has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Herschel Pettaway comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pettaway has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Herschel Pettaway misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
Because I Can spoke after the fight, saying 'I'm so handsome i'm not surprised this guy was all over me the way he was!'.
