PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andre Clay (ranked 842 p4p, 33 weight class) and William Fidnhasieunch (ranked 1994 p4p, 93 weight class). Clay's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Believe. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andre Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Fidnhasieunch!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fidnhasieunch takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Clay throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fidnhasieunch stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fidnhasieunch drops his hands momentarily and Clay takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Clay jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fidnhasieunch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Clay defends it nicely.

and Clay counters with a straight right hand.
Fidnhasieunch takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Clay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Andre Clay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Fidnhasieunch.

Fidnhasieunch throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Clay tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fidnhasieunch is in Clay's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Fidnhasieunch working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Clay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fidnhasieunch defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fidnhasieunch lands a nice short elbow.

Clay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fidnhasieunch is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Clay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fidnhasieunch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andre Clay will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fidnhasieunch is trying hard to land a takedown here. Clay sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Clay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Clay lands with a kick to the temple. Fidnhasieunch shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Clay scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Clay works over Fidnhasieunch's head and body with a nice combination.
A decent looking cross lands there for Clay.

Andre Clay is winning the standup battle so far.
Clay goes for a small jab and connects. Now Clay goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Fidnhasieunch stumbles back but Clay runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Fidnhasieunch to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Fidnhasieunch will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Andre Clay!
Andre Clay was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
