PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Kalani (ranked 5935 p4p, 204 weight class) and Reinhard Stiglitz (ranked 3841 p4p, 164 weight class). Stiglitz has chosen Warriors Call by Volbeat as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reinhard Stiglitz!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stiglitz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kalani tries to pull guard but Stiglitz won't allow it.
Kalani tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Stiglitz lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Stiglitz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Stiglitz scores with a shot to the side of Kalani's head.
Kalani tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stiglitz smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Kalani. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kalani feints and as Stiglitz raises his hands in defense, Kalani changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stiglitz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stiglitz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Let's hope that Stiglitz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kalani postures up in Stiglitz's guard and throws a big left but Stiglitz blocks it.

Kalani has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kalani connects with a couple of short punches.
Kalani tries to free his leg and advance position but Stiglitz is retaining full guard.

Stiglitz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kalani is one step ahead there.

Kalani is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Stiglitz told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Stiglitz lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Stiglitz lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kalani backwards.
Kalani is trying to pull guard but Stiglitz turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kalani jumps guard but Stiglitz stands there with Kalani around his waist. Kalani gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Stiglitz gets through Kalani's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Stiglitz lands a shoulder strike.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stiglitz misses with a knee strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kalani is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stiglitz to keep the fight standing.

Stiglitz digs a right hand into Kalani's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kalani's gas tank.
Stiglitz is struggling to control the position.
Stiglitz lands with a left to the head.
The referee calls for Stiglitz to work.
With the fighters up against the cage, Stiglitz throws an elbow but misses.
Kalani tries to pull guard but Stiglitz holds him up against the cage and eventually Kalani drops back down to his feet.
Kalani jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stiglitz walks away with a smile on his face. Kalani gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Stiglitz drops Kalani with a beautiful combination! Kalani stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Stiglitz is looking for the KO!


Kalani is rocked!


It looks like Ray Kalani has been cut.

Kalani tries to keep at a distance but Stiglitz has taken the fight into the clinch.
Oh Kalani is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stiglitz creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Kalani's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Kalani drops to his knees and Stiglitz pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Reinhard Stiglitz!
An out of breath and clearly excited Reinhard Stiglitz thanked Hell's Balls Recovery (160) for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
In defeat, Ray Kalani stepped up to the mic, saying 'GEODUDE'.
